Louise Oliver (Practice Education Lead), Tilia Lenz (CPD Framework Lead), Orlanda Harvey (Lead for MA Leading and Development Services) and Ros Dray (Practice Lead and Lead for Final Placement) ran the first in a series of international online seminars focusing upon social work practice education.
This seminar was designed for those who are in social work with the role of practice educator or supervisor. We explored how to give constructive feedback, including the educator-learner relationship and feedback as a learning opportunity. The reason we did this was because I had identified, through teaching practice education and engaging with practitioners that giving feedback can be challenging to do and therefore we wanted to influence practice on a wider scale, by reaching as many people as possible.
We used different innovative pedagogical tools in order to engage with audience and promote reflection upon the subjects under discussion. The recording of the seminar and tools created in the seminar will be added to the Bournemouth University Practice Education Hub to be freely accessible to practitioners and educators: https://nccdsw.com/cpd/practice-education-hub/
This was a well-received event, with attendees asking for more events to be delivered in the near future.
