Call for submissions to the British Journal of Social Work Special Issue (Voice and Influence of people with lived experience)

Professor Mel Hughes is delighted to announce that we have now published the call for submissions to the Special Issue of the British Journal of Social Work which she is involved in guest editing.

She is inviting people with lived experience relevant to social work to submit to any of the following categories:

  1. Academic papers
  2. Reflective pieces
  3. Creative artefacts

People with lived experience expertise are involved in all stages and levels of the special issue as Guest Editors, peer reviewers and authors. A number of people with lived experiences of social work have also been invited to support in reviewing submissions for the special issue.

Dr Mel Hughes is Associate Professor in Social Work at Bournemouth University (BU). Mel champions lived experience expertise through her roles as Academic Lead for the PIER (Public Involvement in Education and Research) partnership and Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Seldom Heard Voices. Mel is committed to ensuring that those who are most affected by social, economic and health inequalities have a voice in shaping and informing research, education and practice.
