Dr Mel Hughes joins the External Advisory Group for the Institute for Social Responsibility!

Dr Mel Hughes has joined the External Advisory Group for the Institute for Social Responsibility at Edge Hill University, a board of members which meet annually and who play an important role in the ISR’s governance. The institute is a research and knowledge exchange initiative, committed to exploring the opportunities for cross-sector collaboration and co-operation, drawing on the experience of practitioners and academic researchers to inform new ways of working and learning.

Dr Mel Hughes is Associate Professor in Social Work at Bournemouth University (BU). Mel champions lived experience expertise through her roles as Academic Lead for the PIER (Public Involvement in Education and Research) partnership and Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Seldom Heard Voices. Mel is committed to ensuring that those who are most affected by social, economic and health inequalities have a voice in shaping and informing research, education and practice.
